Coaching for the Team Leader or Project Manager
Leadership is crucial in achieving high performance from a team.

A coach can help you to overcome uncertainty about how to balance authority and empowerment; how to assign roles for team processes, and how to generate commitment and consensus - both fully exploring team members' different views and yet reinforcing key business objectives.See an example here.

Also, many leaders find it useful to talk through plans for team development. an expert can advise you on time, committment and costs to take a team to various levels of performance.

Case Studies: Leadership coaching

A team leader, managed seven scientific staff, all of whom, for the most part were enthusiastic, high performers. However, on some job aspects, particularly some new regulations which meant compulsory reporting, one or two consistently failed to deliver despite repeated promises to do so. She had considered formal discipline, even trying to link individual failings to the team's overall evaluation, in order to resolve it. She felt she had little support from her own boss. Consulting with an expert and talking it through helped greatly. Two things were missing: proper dialogue with the staff in question, selling the importance of the new regulations, performance targets that they could agree with and commit to; secondly - establishing a monitoring system that she could lead in the first instance, knowing that performance may well slip, even unconsciously.
