Development Methods - ways you could achieve performance improvements.

  • The Traditional Way: You assess the range of training courses available, see which meets most of your needs and send people along.

  • The Modern Way: You work back from the desired performance. Often, particularly when developing leadership skills or team performance, a development process with coaching and specially designed workshops produces much more real change than a training course.

  • The Right Way? Any development method is fine if it achieves obejctives! It's the aim of this page to inform you about options you have. It's not an exhaustive list, but reviews the most accessible and useful ones in the project team environment.
 
 

Facilitated meetings and team reviews
Teams can learn at meetings! This option is extremely cost effective, and requires next to no time spent 'away' from work activities. More >

 

 

Team Leader coaching
A coach can help you to balance authority vs. empowerment and to generate commitment and consensus. More >

 

 

Team Development events
these are typically off-site meetings, on average one or two days, but they can have very different modes:

  • Organisation Development / Change: Where a team needs to restructure itself, build its vision and strategy, address changed circumstances or personnel. More >
  • Teambuilding / Trust: Building bonds between members, to enhance a sense of identity and build capacity to deal with pressure and challenge. More >
  • Project work focused: To get a team together to make rapid progress with a chosen topic. This is an actual work project - you can achieve a lot yet learn at the same time. More >
  • Simulation / skills building: This is an event where a team, or groups of teams focus on building skills such as consensus, influencing, decision analysis, and so on. More >

 

 

An Action Learning project
A structured programme of learning for a selected group, entirely based around a significant work project. The facilitator works with the group for the duration of the project. Usually a longer term process. Contact Us

 

 

Online learning and support
e-Learning, typically using the Intranet can provide the theoretical background, tools and techniques, preparation for events, and so on. It can save valuable time. More >
